|502 PARTIAL ENGINE BLOCK|
For those who need the max, here’s an 502ci Gen VI Chevrolet big-block with roller camshaft. This block is identical to the Gen V block, but has a new roller camshaft design block. The pistons, rods, and crankshaft are the same as Gen V. This engine features a standard deck height “iron” block with four-bolt main bearing caps, a 4.00” stroke forged steel crankshaft and 4.47” diameter forged pistons. The compression ratio is a reasonable 8.75:1 when used on the 502 HO engine, with 118cc chambers cast iron heads, or 9.6:1 on the 502/502 HP engine with 110cc chamber aluminum heads. It has 4340 steel connection rods with 7/16” rod bolts. This partial includes block, forged steel crankshaft, pistons, flexplate, damper, oil pump, oil pan, oil pan baffle, front cover, steel roller camshaft with lifters, timing chain, and cam sprocket. (When using for replacement for 502 HO engine, the camshaft must be changed from 12366543 to 24502611.). This Partial Engine is ready for heads and the rest of the upper engine components to be added.
Technical Note: Starting with the Gen VI engine blocks, Mark IV, Gen V or Gen VI iron or aluminum cylinder heads are interchangeable. An electric fuel pump is required because the Gen VI block P/N 10237292 does not have a mechanical fuel pump boss.
