I would recommend you investigate the various centrifigal superchargers instead.
Paxton and Vortec come immediately to mind but there are others. They make complete
kits for the Sub that are a bolt in. All accessories and smog equipment stay in
place and they have kits that are emmission legal in all 50 states. They can also
supply higher boost kits racing type kits. How much money you want to spend? The
problem with the Whipple type kits is that generally they go on top of the manifold and
can cause clearance problems. Also the ones I have seen are suck through models that
require special manifolds and carbs that will not use the original or aftermarket
fuel injection kits. All the ones I have seen use carbs. They may have changed but
I havn't seen or heard of one. On both stock and Accell fuel injection you can get the
parts from both Paxton and Vortex to change the injectors and fuel regulator/fuel pump if
req'd. Also Accell and other aftermarket fuel injection houses have the expertise to
recal the system for boost by either the centrifigal type super chargers or turbo chargers.
The whipple charger is a nice system but the one I worked on were like the GMC blowers and
were not really useful for emission legal street systems. They are pretty though.
