: I have a 350 small block of unknown origin in a '75 pontiac ventura. The starter has never engaged the flywheel correctly. I put in a new flywheel but the starter I have is still 1/4 to 1/2 inch from the flywheel. Does anyone know a part number for a starter that will eliminate this excessive gap between the flywheel and the starter shaft.
I assume the engine is a chevy small block 350
which flywheel did you buy 12 3/4 or 14" diameter ?Does the starter have a straight across bolt pattern or a offset pattern?Where are you buying your parts?what part #'s are they? With the right GM parts you can't go wrong unless the block has been broken and rewelded answer these questions and will try to help you.
