I'm building a street legal Can-Am type car based on the Corvette GTP racing body. I intend to compete in the Silver State Classic and in local Solo 1 events. The car is a mid-engine configuration and I am thinking about using a new Vette transaxle behind a SBC..
One of the pieces of missing information is the torque capacity of the stock Vette transaxle. Does anyone know the torque this box was designed for? I'm also concerned that the half-shafts are located so far to the rear. This may cause an unacceptable increase in the wheelbase length. Does anyone know the dimension between the bellhousing mounting surface and the half-shafts? Any comments or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
