: Tom,
: I spoke to you saturday about getting bolts for the intake and a distributor. I talked to the guy who balanced the engine and he said that the crank had enough material to balance the engine. He said that it does'nt matter if you use a different balancer as long as the balancer itself is balanced. My question however is since my old timing cover had the timing tab located on it for the stock balancer and the timing cover I have on the engine now is a steel one with a timing tab and what looks like to be a small tube to point a timing light through it how will I know which balancer to install. I looked through the chevrolet book and they offer a few balancers that are 2degrees BTDC and 10degBTDC which one do i use?? Also, I would like to know where you recommend setting my initial timing, total timing, etc. to get best results with my combination of parts. H.O.T cam kit 2.02 ,1.60 valves. I know this is a lot to answer for, And I am probably making a big deal out of nothing. I would like to see what type of balancer you can sell me in the 100.00 range since I have decided not to use the stock 8" one because i will have to dismantle the engine to put on the reluctor ring. Let me know so I can get it ordered.
