Can anybody out there tell me what is causing our Suburban to run rich, rough idle? It has a rebuilt engine with ~40,000 miles. I replaced the oxygen and fuel sensors. Changed the plugs last week and they were perfect. The exhaust smells rich and rough idle plus it sounds as though it's missing when you accelerate from a stop. Once you get going, the engine sounds and runs fine. Also, the "check engine soon" light keeps coming on, but when I took it to the local Chev dealer, they said it didn't need a thing and it ran beautifully!! I've hooked it up to various computers to diagnose it, but they all come up with nothing. Any ideas??
Also, how much does Sallee Chev charge to install one of their big blocks in a '80 1-ton 4X4 pick up? Mine needs a new 454. Any idea which 454 would be my best choice? Of course I want better than average power to tow and pass with.
