24221098 - 4L85-E Four speed rear-wheel-drive, electronically controlled, automatic overdrive transmission with a torque converter clutch. GM has changed the part number on this transmission to 24227618. P/N 24227618 is a remanufactured transmission with a core charge. GM may bring back P/N 24221098, we are trying to get more information on this from them. We can only order P/N 24227618 at this time.      This is the best performance four speed automatic transmission that GM Performance Parts offers, rated for a maximum engine torque of 460 lb.-ft. This 2 wheel drive version of the 4L85E automatic transmission and includes torque converter. It is used in the current model GM Heavy Duty Trucks. Using a die cast aluminum case keeps the total transmission at only 255lb. The gear ratios are 1st - 2.482, 2nd - 1.482, 3rd - 1.000, 4th - 0.750, and reverse is 2.077. The converter size is 310mm (diameter of torque converter turbine), with maximum shift speeds at 5200 RPM for all gears. Technical Note: This transmission has the conventional Chevrolet bolt pattern for attaching to engine.
