Chevrolet - FLUIDAMPR PERFORMANCE HARMONIC DAMPERS
For added vibrational protection for your engine, nothing quite does the
job like Fluidampr balancers. Harmonic vibration can be controlled by a vibration damper -

of a “harmonic damper” is to control harmonic vibration, not necessarily to balance the

PERFORMANCE SERIES DAMPERS
Fluidampr Performance Harmonic Dampers
Recently Vibratech was split into two companies. Enidine Rail Products got to keep the name Vibratech.
The new Fluidampr & Streetdampr is called Vibratechtvd. The last three letters of their name stand for
Torsional Vibration Damping. Their only product goes on the end of your vehicles crankshaft and uses Viscous Liquid Silicon Technology to damp out
the most destructive crankshaft vibrations possible. All of their dampers are being manufactured in Springville, NY, USA in their state of
the art ISO 9001 manufacturing facility. Their heavy industry web site address is www.vibratechtvd.com
while their performance automotive web site is www.fluidampr.com. We invite you to visit
there automotive site for more information on their automotive dampers. You can also get a free downloadable catalog in PDF format
from their automotive site.
SFI Accepted, Explosion Proof - Fluidampr is safety tested to 12,500 rpm and meets SFI 18-1 specications.
The Lightest Fluidampr Available
Only 6 Lbs.
Honda, ford 4.6, and Chevy LS1 will be available early 2004
The best selling Fluidampr just got better! The new lightweight Fluidampr is available
to all drag racers with Chevy power plants.
Look for the Signature Series icon on the parts listed below
Vibratech succeeded in making Fluidampr lighter without sacrificing damper performance.
So, you can rest assured that your engine is protected against destructive harmonic vibration. In fact, the Signature
Series Fluidampr is dyno proven to reduce more vibration than the elastomer type damper.
* Quicker ETs

*Note: (RWt.) stands for rotating weight. Fluidampr’s rotating weight is approximately 2/3’s of the total weight at
optimum damping because the inertia ring is surrounded by silicone fluid, and can rotate inside the housing.
External balanced dampers have a slightly higher RWt. because of the added counterweight mass.
SPORT COMPACT SERIES DAMPERS

STREET SERIES DAMPERS
Streetdampr Performance Harmonic Dampers For Street Machines and Street Rods Not Requiring SFI Acceptance
To meet the needs of performance automotive enthusiasts, Horschel Motorsports offers
Streetdampr, a lower cost version of the race proven Fluidampr. It is cost effective to step up from a low performance
rubber-type damper to the superior fluid-type Streetdampr.
Designed as a replacement for the stock damper, Streetdampr utilizes race proven viscous
fluid technology to control crankshaft vibration in mild street applications and in racing applications, which do not
require an SFI accepted damper.
Streetdampr is similar in operation when compared to Fluidampr. Streetdampr is shipped uncoated with a rust preventative
and should be painted before installation. Streetdampr Delivers
* Crankshaft Vibration Control and All RPM
* Extended Crankshaft and Bearing Life
* Paintable to Match Your Engine Block Color
* Timing Marks Every 2° from 0° - 40°
* Totally Enclosed Inertia Ring, so Timing Marks Cannot Move
* Smooth, Consistent Performance
* Increased Horsepower and Torque

FLUIDAMPR GENERAL INFORMATION
Timing Tab Information
Chevrolet has used several different timing pointer locations on small-block engines. Some are not
compatible with the timing marks on a Fluidampr. Fluidampr timing marks are set up for the timing pointer that is
bolted onto the timing cover. For maximum timing accuracy, locate Top Dead Center with a positive piston stop and a
degree wheel.
With 620101 and 620103 dampers, use GM timing pointer number 3991435 (plain) or 12342000 (chromed)
and modify if required.
With 720111 damper, use GM timing pointer number 3991436 (plain) or 12342011 (chromed) and modify
if required.
With big block Chevrolet dampers 800101 and 800111, use GM timing pointer number 3992073 (plain) or
12342001 (chromed) and modify if required.
Custom Aftermarket timing tabs specially made to be used with Fluidampr are also available from
independent suppliers.
Choosing the Right Damper
Streetdampr or Fluidampr? If your engine is running at high rpm, Fluidampr is the best choice. Fluidampr is also
required if your race sanction body requires the use of an SFI accepted damper. If you are replacing your factory
stock damper on a mild street or mild race application, the low cost Streetdampr will work just fine.
Choosing the Correct Size Damper
If damper performance and engine protection is the primary consideration, then choose the larger of
the Fluidampr appropriate for your application. Typically, we recommend larger dampers on street and marine
applications.
If weight is the most important consideration or, if you have space limitations, choose the smaller
damper available for your application. We usually recommend the smaller dampers for drag racing and oval track racing
applications, although they may be used in street applications.
These dampers have been dyno proven to outperform the comparably sized stock rubber dampers.
How do you tell the difference between external and internally balanced motors?
On internally balanced engines, there is no counterweight on the damper.
The damper is completely neutral (zero) balanced. An externally balanced engine will have an obvious
counterweight on the backside of the damper and the flywheel.
Installation Tips
The correct way to install a damper is to coat the crank snout and the ID of the hub with anti-seize
compound and press the damper into place with a proper threaded or hydraulic installation tool.
Many people are under the false impression that the crankshaft key is supposed to keep a vibration
damper in place on the crankshaft snout. This is definitely NOT the case. The key is intended, strictly to position
the damper correctly during installation - it is the press fit between the damper Inside Diameter(ID) and crankshaft
Outside Diameter (OD) and a Grade 8 bolt properly torqued, that prevents the damper from spinning on the crank.
Consequently, the ID of a damper’s should NEVER be honed to provide a slip fit. If a press fit is not maintained, a
damper’s effectiveness is minimized because it does not maintain firm contact with the crankshaft.
Silicone Fluid
The inertia ring inside Fluidampr shears through a thin film of highly viscous silicone fluid to effectively control harmonic
vibration at all engine speeds. But what is silicone fluid really like? Well, fluid is somewhat of a misnomer because it is
really more like a gel. The silicone fluid used in Fluidampr is clear in color and is more than 45,000 times thicker
(more viscous) than 30 weight motor oil.
Silicone fluid is a very good damping medium because it is relatively unaffected by temperature
changes. Thus, it provides consistent damping in both winter and summer. The fluid does not harden or change viscosity if
Fluidampr is not used for a period of time. The fluid is so durable that big rig, 18 wheeler truck engines are mostly all
equipped with viscous fluid-type dampers.
Silicone fluid’s damping capability is unmatched. That’s why the fluid inside Fluidampr is
guaranteed for as long as you own it.
• Fluid design controls ALL harmonics throughout entire RPM range.
• Increases horsepower through improved valvetrain stability -- crankshaft twisting is reduced so it’s not transmitted
to the camshaft
• NO Repair or Maintenance
• Increases crankshaft and main bearing life.
• Explosion proof -- SFI Accepted.
• Accurate, easy-to-read timing marks.
