Please make sure you have your e-mail address on all of your messages sent to us.
If you have been told by your local dealer that a stock part has been discontinued, asking us the same question will not change that fact.

Chevrolet and GM Performance Parts - GMPP Turnkey Fast Burn 385 Kit
The Fast Burn 385 has 385 Horsepower and 385 ft. /lbs of torque to handle just about any application. With value in mind, the Fast Burn uses stamped rocker arms and the same ZZ4 camshaft that powers thousands of hot rods. The Fast Burn is an excellent choice for the basis of a custom engine. Its strong forged steel crankshaft and forged powdered metal connecting rods have been proven to 500 horsepower. GMPP has made it even easier now to install a Fast Burn 385 in your vehicle with this Turnkey Fast Burn 385.

GMPP Turnkey Fast Burn 385
The Evolution of America’s Favorite Crate Engine
Easier To Install Turnkey Version
P/N 12499710
The GM Performance Parts Fast Burn 385 Turnkey Kit will save you both time and money over buying the Fast Burn 385 and all the parts to make a Turnkey engine separately. This is a kit, but can be assembled on an engine stand using the supplied instructions in just under 4 hours easily. The picture on the right shows the fully assembled kit which took one of our Race Shop tech's less then 2 hours to put together by himself with nothing more then his tool box and the engine stand you see it on. Oh yes, you will also need something like a cherry picker to lift it out of the crate and hold the engine until you can get it attached to the engine stand. The Turnkey Fast Burn 385 comes in a crate which is show below with the Fast Burn 385 engine (P/N 12496769), Serpentine Belt Accessory Drive Package with Air Conditioning (P/N 12497689), Starter, Wires and Looms, Chrome Air Cleaner, Chrome Breather Cap, and 750cfm Carburetor. With not too much effort, you can have this kit put together, in the engine compartment, and ready to go in just a few days working on it after work and on the weekends. A more detailed parts page is available for viewing that has parts list and more pictures of the individual parts that come in the kit. Return to the main page when you are done if you wish.

Lets pop the top off so we can see what is in the crate. Did you notice how much care our Race Shop takes even in doing this? The top is completely intact and laying up against the side of one of the work benches.      We all crowd around and take a peek. Looks like the Fast Burn 385 all wrapped up on the left and all the boxes of goodies to make it a Turnkey engine on the right. So what are we waiting for, let's get it out!
While the tech that won the draw to put the first kit together is getting the engine and boxes out of the crate, I decide to take a picture of the crate tag so I won't forget the kit part number.      Once the tech has the engine on the stand and the boxes out of the crate, I decided to move everything outside the Race Shop where there is better lighting to take pictures at. I arrange all the boxes around the Fast Burn 385 engine so that I can show everyone all that comes in the crate at once. Oops, I forgot the starter, oh well.
The picture above doesn’t show the boxes the come in the crate very well so I decide to take some closer pictures of them.      Another closer picture of the crate contents.
Darn, this bag of parts isn't showing up too well, but there is the Proform chrome breather cap and right behind it is the Serpentine Belt Accessory Drive Package in the big brown cardboard box.      Ah, much better. After removing the contents of the plastic bag shown in the picture at the left, I laid them all out on top of the big cardboard box and got this picture of parts.

Time to see what is in the big brown box now. I drag the empty crate outside and replace the top so I have a good surface to lay everything out one for the pictures. I take a picture from three different sides so everything shows up well. The picture above shows the installation instructions for putting all this together. I took some more close up pictures of all of these parts and put them on another page since there is getting to be too many pictures on this page already and I need to leave room for pictures of the assembled kit. The tech says it’s his turn now and shooed all of us out and tells me he will let me know when everything is together so that I can take pictures of the assembled kit.
Oh, I almost forgot to say, the pictures I took of the carburetor are on the other page too and since there are so many parts in the kit, I have put the parts list for those on yet another page making a total of three pages for everything.

Less then 2 hours later while sitting at my desk and working on our web site, the phone rings. It’s the Race Shop tech calling to say the kit is together now and ready for me to take pictures of it. He wheeled the engine outside again at my request so I could have a little better lightning for the pictures. The four pictures you see just above here and the one at the top of the page where taken then and the tech and I discussed how this is a pretty nice looking and compact package which will not only look good in an engine compartment, but won't take up a lot of unnecessary space either. All the pictures needed having now been taken, I turned to the tech and told him he was free to take the engine over to our parts lobby for display and I would get out of his way. I then ran back to my desk to start the process of editing the pictures and making the pages for display on our web site. I'm sad to say, that this took me a lot longer then or Race Shop tech took to take the kit out of the crate and put it together even with me taking pictures and everyone else that came to see the opening of the first crate in his way, but I hope everyone enjoys this story, the kit information, and the kit pictures.
